About
After the first two sessions in June and November 2023, Jubilo Foundation returns to Rome proposing Il Corpo Collettivo/Roma 3.0, a three-day theatre workshop for performers, actors, dancers with previous theatre experience.
During this edition of the workshop, we will focus on deepening the terms relation and exploration in its various articulations:t he relation between the body and the voice, the relation between the individual and the work space, the relation with the other, and the relation with the outside eye. The work will be divided into three main parts: a first part of physical training, a second part with specific work on the voice and polyphonic singing, and a third part where we will work on elements of improvisation, composition of theatrical structures and their subsequent spatialisation.
Participants will be guided in an explorative process that will allow them to acquire or deepen tools and skills, opening a personal and together shared creative path. The focus will be put on the exploration of individual materials (songs, texts, physical scores), aiming to let emerge unexpected and non-obvious theatrical solutions.
The Project
This workshop wants to represent the start in the Roman territory of a training and artistic path conceived for the long term, which started with a fruitful collaboration with Teatro di Documenti, in June 2023. One of the objectives is to pass on the experience gained in research theatre through contact with companies of European and international resonance, proposing a working method that crosses polyphonic singing, body/voice work and ensemble physical training, up to composition techniques.
Materials
Each participant is required to prepare a text of their choice (theatrical or literary) and a song (preferably from the traditional repertoire) on the theme of TRAVEL. It is necessary, for the purpose of the training, to wear comfortable clothing, preferably dark colored. We will work bare feet.

COST:
250 Euro per participant. For people that already participated in the workshop Il Corpo Collettivo the cost will be of 200 Euro. Payment is to be made by bank transfer and is non-refundable. A bank transfer receipt will be requested to confirm registration for the workshop. Refund of finances is provided only in case of cancellation of the workshop.

Diego Pileggi
director, actor and theatre pedagogue. He holds an MA in Acting from Manchester Metropolitan University (2011) and a BA in Communication Sciences (sec. Theatre) from the University of Milan (2007). As a theatrical researcher and pedagogue, his approach is rooted in physical theater and the theatrical process, with a specific interest in body/voice techniques and the psychophysical training of the actor. Since 2013, he has collaborated with the Grotowski Institute in Wroclaw, where he developed his theatrical research and led a training program for performers in physical theatre and ensemble theatre practices. He has collaborated with theatrical institutions and academies in Poland and abroad including Grotowski Institute, Teatr Polski (Warsaw), AST – National Academy of Dramatic Arts (Wroclaw), Tehran University of Dramatic Arts (Iran), National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Oslo (Norway). Since 2011 he has been a founding member and artistic director of Jubilo Foundation, an international theatre company that develops its research work and applies it both in the performance dimension and with marginalized communities including prisoners, adults with physical and mental disabilities, ethnic minorities and refugees. Since 2014, he has been the leader of the theater project “Unlocking,” developed in collaboration with the Grotowski Institute and aimed at inmates in the closed and semi-open departments of prisons in Wroclaw and Swidnica (PL), directing the award-winning performance Reflection (co-directed, 2015), Cain (2019) and the performance installations Cain in Absentia (2019/2020), Odgrodzenie (2021). With Jubilo he directed, among others, the performances On the Other Side (2021), Cain in Absentia (2020), On the Other Side/Passage (2020), On the Other Side: Concert for Piano and Silences (2019), Reflection (2015), Black Night White Day (2015), Hidden Cities – Concert of Traditional songs (2015). He is a founding member of the Italian theatre company Il Giardino delle Ore (IT).
Michal Murawski
actor, singer, puppeteer. Graduate of the Theater Academy in Warsaw, Branch in Bialystok. Cooperated with institutional theaters in Poland (Warsaw, Wroclaw). He is developing his career in off-theater, combining his wide interests. He has been working with the Jubilo Foundation since 2020, performing, co-leading workshops, and also working as a project manager.
Teatro di Documenti:
in the heart of Rome’s Testaccio district, was designed and built by Luciano Damiani, recognized as one of the greatest set designers of the 20th century and as one of the most innovative theater artists of all time. Damiani, after working in the world’s leading prose and opera theaters, decided to create a space that could express his idea of theater, a space that, without denying the past and tradition, would become the “theater that did not exist before.” Teatro di Documenti was born from Damiani’s dream of creating a “democratic and popular” theater where people, actors and spectators, are united in the making of the performance. The structural unification of stage space, audience space and actors’ space cancels the traditional separation of stage and audience, and disintegrates the “backstage/stage” dualism. The configuration of the halls, respecting excellent acoustics, also makes the theater an ideal venue for concerts and musical performances. Teatro di Documenti, called an “architectural jewel,” is a masterpiece of theatrical architecture. More than fifty dissertations have been written about Luciano Damiani and the Teatro di Documenti, as well as biographies, catalogs, publications in volumes, magazines, and newspapers.
