From Action to Word – RADICI Project
Theatre workshop led by Diego Pileggi and Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri – Jubilo Foundation
Sunday, 11 February, 10:00–13:00 / 14:30–17:30 (total: 6 hours)
Leaders:
Diego Pileggi and Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri
Where:
Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso, Via della Chiesa 4, Canzo (CO)
“As the body takes on a certain form, an analogous form is simultaneously assumed by the vocal apparatus; thus the voice is modulated as though the entire body were acting as one unified whole: form, feeling, voice—an ideal, pliable instrument.”
(Orazio Costa)
The workshop is open to actors, performers, and dancers—both professionals and non-professionals.
About
Drawing on a decade of European, research-theatre experience—enriched by a long-standing collaboration with the Grotowski Institute in Wrocław (PL)—Jubilo Foundation is organizing, in the Canzo area, a theatre workshop open to everyone who is interested.
The day will be divided into two working sessions led by Diego Pileggi, actor and director with more than ten years of experience in European research theatre, and Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri, actor and director trained in the Strehler tradition, with numerous collaborations with leading masters on the international theatre scene. From the meeting of these two artists comes the workshop “From Action to Word,” conceived as a first step toward establishing, in the Canzo area, intensive theatre laboratories with artists of national and international standing.
Radici | The Project
Following the launch of CONTROCANTO, a polyphonic singing lab, this workshop is conceived as yet another step toward creating a true hub of artistic research in the Canzo area. The project was born with the aim of building ongoing local relationships that make it possible to engage not only multiple fields—training as well as artistic practice—but also to extend over time, taking shape as a shared developmental path, both individual and collective, that goes beyond the mere transmission of acting and vocal techniques.
Programme
Diego Pileggi – Physical and vocal training, space/time

Diego Pileggi
actor, director, and theatre pedagogue. Founder and Artistic Director of Fundacja Jubilo. He earned an MA in Acting from Manchester Metropolitan University (2011) and a degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Milan (2007). He further refined his training through encounters with leading masters such as Peter Brook, Eugenio Barba, Marcello Magni, Roberta Carreri, Iben Nagel Rasmussen, Danio Manfredini, Michele Abbondanza, and Chiara Michelini.
His approach is rooted in physical theatre and the theatrical process, with a particular focus on body–voice techniques and the actor’s psychophysical training. From 2012 to 2022, through the activities of Fundacja Jubilo, he was a long-term collaborator of the Grotowski Institute in Wrocław. He has worked with theatre institutions and academies in Italy and abroad, including the Grotowski Institute, Teatr Polski (Warsaw), AST – National Academy of Dramatic Arts (Wrocław), the Tehran University of Dramatic Arts (Iran), and the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Oslo (Norway). In 2023, he founded in Canzo the traditional and polyphonic singing workshop Controcanto.
Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri
actor and director, trained at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano school. Over the past twenty years he has worked in theatre and dance-theatre, focusing on the study of the performing body and vocal work. His training was shaped by encounters with some of the greatest masters of European theatre and dance, including Giorgio Strehler, Luca Ronconi, Peter Brook, and Carolyn Carlson, and—among others—through the guidance of Enrico D’Amato, Bruce Myers, Yoshi Oida, Marise Flach, Michele Abbondanza, Antonella Bertoni, and Iva Formigoni. His theoretical and practical research has been grounded in the classical principles of European theatre pedagogy (in particular the teachings of Jacques Copeau, Bertolt Brecht, and Orazio Costa).
As an actor, he has taken part in national productions directed, among others, by Strehler (Elvira, or Theatrical Passion; Così fan tutte), Luca Ronconi (Infinities; What Maisie Knew, with Mariangela Melato; The Frogs), Roberto Guicciardini (Oedipus Rex), and Abbondanza/Bertoni (Polis). Recent works include the recital Shakespeare Memories and Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett, both directed by Christian Poggioni.
